Some businesses wonder why they fail to convert despite being the best service providers in their niche. Even if they get leads, they fail to close them.

This tactical guide by Ryan Shank gives a practical insight into lead generation and better conversions. Read on!

Shank got his inspiration from a company that sold phone calls to businesses. The company was paid for the good phone calls that were generated for businesses.

Shank took inspiration from this business idea to set up local listings on Google and other directories to generate leads via an organic search for a plumbing business in New York City.

As 10 months passed, calls started coming. Over time he became the top search on Google for “Plumbers in New York”. However, the plumber to whom the leads were being forwarded, could not convert.

As per Ryan Shank’s analysis, here are some things the plumber could have done:

  1. Empathize with customers- Listen to their woes with sympathy and concern.
  2. Establish credibility– Make the customer understand that you have a licensed and reputed firm with trusted customers.
  3. Competition: Inform the potential customer that competitors may not be licensed and charge low prices for delivering sub-quality services.
  4. Provide a tentative estimate– Understand the client’s requirement, and provide him a price range that you deem reasonable, decide the final price after on-site inspection.
  5. Add value to your pricing- Outline your services and the quality measures that you undertake. Convince the customer that the price that you quote fully justifies the services provided.

Shank used the same principles in many service-intensive industries. Some of the problems he encountered from the industries were:

  • 40% Unattended calls
  • Not closing on leads that they should
  • Not building a value around their pricing

All these factors leave the customers frustrated. They turn to other accomplished services that provide timely output.

Final Thoughts

A call tracking system ensures that the calls do not get answered. A single call is directed to several people in the firm. So if the job owner is busy with some task, other people can answer the call. This ensures that the call is answered.

Customer satisfaction is the most important factor to convert your leads. A powerful call tracking system will keep a track of your customers so that you can attend them at the earliest. It also helps you monitor and analyze the calls and how customers are locating you.
